We've been so looking forward to rain I had forgotten about the down side.
Back three days now. The garden is covered in green. Not good green but weed green. There are weeds everywhere. Far too many to weed by hand. I will be getting the rake and hoe out and working on clearing them. The drive still looks great but I notice there is some of the white sand mixed through it. Not too happy about that as I think it spoils the look.
Plants in pots seemed to have survived our 8 days away thankfully. I suspect the ground is still as rock hard as ever for digging but I'll need to get into it and plant the hedge. At least one of the grevilleas is looking almost complete dead in it's pot. I have some spongolite and zeolite to collect from a store in Bunbury to dig into the holes for each planting so it depends on whether or not the stock has arrived . Calls to make.
Also need to decide what veggies I want to grow over autumn and winter, buy some soil improver and veggie seedlings. ( or seeds)
Loved all the tropical looking plants around our accommodation in Bali. Took a few pictures but not heaps. Will upload later.
This blog is for family and friends so they can watch as we settle in a new town with a newly built house and turn it into a home, establish gardens and settle in. Come and join us and follow the progress. I will try and include lots of photo's along the way.

AWAY Soon
Yes we are off again.
For a week this time.
Birthdays for friends. Celebration time.
I have instructions to find a temple to visit. Not sure which to choose.
I would love to go to Pura Luhur Uluwatu and see the kecak fire dance at sunset but I've heard the monkeys at the temple you are forced to pass are pretty nasty. Trained to steal. so now I'm looking for something else.
Perhaps the temple at Lake Batu-Bali Batur Temple
Or somewhere else just as pretty.
There are main amazing places to see.
I've decided to try and recreate my original traveling blogs here--> Have Passport
I'll add some old blog stuff I saved when geocities died when we get home from Bali. But for now. It's all about Bali.

Driveway Stage 1
Finally a driveway. We decided to go with findings/tailings/roadbase for our driveway. It's cheap, works for a semi rural in town type block and given the size we eventually want as driveway and parking area, is the most practical option.
Stage one is the section that we currently park on and which leads up to the garage. It's been done with a really fine grade that should compact down very hard. It's finer that the coarse builders pad sand.
Stage two will give us an additional parking area and will be done with bigger/chunkier road base- ( like bluemetal)
There might be a stage three. We are considering putting it down as a ground surface behind the house on the laundry side with pavers for pathways only.
Findings being spread.
Up close.

This area where the ute is parked will be stage two.

Newest happenings
This week our solar panels have finally been installed.
After 4 quotes last October we agreed to go with the "local guy" ( does 70+ km class as local?)last November and the application went in to the power company. Mum applied in December and got approval in early January and we still hadn't heard. At the end of January we found out we too had approval. Mum's panels are due to be installed next week so we were getting quite frustrated waiting to hear when ours would go up but finally on Monday we got a call from "our man". He was to appear on Wednesday or Thursday to install the panels and return with his electrician on Friday to install the invertor.? Inverter? Hmm one of those.
Anyway panels went in Wednesday and today the inverter. Very pleased. On Wednesday while at work I happened to mention to someone else that we had chosen someone local to do ours and it turned out they'd gone with the same person. They were very happy. The person I spoke said, " He really needs someone to do his paperwork." it's shocking. Well today just proved that point more. We haven't paid a thing. Our system is fully installed and saving us power even though as yet we haven't applied to the power board for them to buy back from us. He is going to send us an invoice for payment and then once we get paid for our recs wants us to pay them on to him. hmmm
He is happy to wait???!!?!! Hubby had to almost chase him down our driveway to get that much info from him.

New camera
I've decided to add a 2nd blog so that I can play with my new camera and leave this blog as only house related items. I might change my mind later and close it down but for now. Here's the link

I wanted to call the blog Blink. But it seems the name is already taken.
